Benefits of Independent Living in Retirement Villages

Independent Living in a New Lambton retirement village has many benefits. You can live independently, similar to what you currently do at home but with the added benefits of comfort, security, no maintenance worries, future peace of mind, happy neighbours and everything our village has to offer.

Personalised care at Wallsend retirement villages

Health

As we age, people sometimes have more health concerns and want to live somewhere with care on hand. All our villages have call buttons with access to 24 hours emergency assistance. We can assist you with in-home support and care services to enable you to remain living at home as long as you want, safely and independently. All of our villages also have Aged Care Homes co-located on-site should higher care be required.

Maintenance

Maintaining the gardens, lawn, the exterior of the house and possibly even a pool can be time-consuming, costly and exhausting. These onerous tasks are all taken care of at our villages with all costs covered in your weekly levies. Some people may consider downsizing from a house to an apartment outside a retirement village and although there is less maintenance there is still a concern that you may have to find more money for special levies, as well as other issues over which you have no control such as noise and a transient population.

Security and Community

Some people feel a little isolated living at home for a couple of reasons:

  • Perhaps they no longer hold a driver’s license or are unable to drive themselves, meaning they no longer have the independence to get out and about to do the shopping or go out to social activities and occasions. In all our villages we provide a village bus for regular trips to the shops. Our buses are also available for various planned social outings organised by the village and residents.
  • Others have expressed a degree of loneliness of living in their suburban street with their neighbours at work. Living within a retirement village you are part of a vibrant community in the company of other residents with whom many people forge wonderful social connections and make new friends.

A full range of services, facilities and activities in our secure retirement village also means you can choose to be as involved as much or as little as you wish.

Palliative Care New Lambton

If a little extra support is needed each day to maintain maximum independence, CBCS is ready with compassionate, dignified care and service. It’s part of our focus on measures to improve your quality of life by identification of pain, and physical, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural needs.

With palliative care, needs can change quickly and care plans may need to be amended to take note of changing circumstances. While managing the symptoms of life-limiting illnesses is critical, so is the emotional and psychological support for both those we care for and their families.

Highly skilled and trained staff ensure an optimal quality of life for all. CBCS Pastoral care

Pastoral Care New Lambton

As a Ministry service, Spiritual and Pastoral Care is an important part of life at CBCS. Pastoral Care is about providing holistic care – compassionately caring for the whole person. Such care embraces the needs of the person physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Whilst our pastoral and spiritual support is built upon a Christian foundation, our Pastoral Care team is available to all residents, their families and close friends, staff and volunteers, regardless of personal beliefs.

To support individual residents’ spiritual needs, we are also able to organise pastoral care services to be provided by staff, volunteers and visiting clergy who have the relevant training and experience to support the practice of the resident’s particular faith. Our pastoral care services are available for residents, loved ones and staff of CBCS. We welcome everyone to attend our services which are held on a variety of days and times.
